Menai Science Park (M-SParc) is to offer virtual tenancies to eligible businesses and ventures ahead of the first building being ready for occupation on Anglesey.
The virtual tenancies respond to high demand for business support services prior to the opening of the first M-SParc building at the Gaerwen site.
Those behind the ambitious project, which has secured an agreed £10.8 million investment from the Welsh Government and a further £10.2 million of European Regional Development Funding, hope the provision will generate further interest in the park ahead of its opening in 2017/18.
Businesses locating to the park will come from the low carbon, energy and environment, and ICT sectors.
To help these high-potential companies grow, M-SParc will be providing a range of services to tenants - including access to Welsh Government support, research expertise at Bangor University and private finance.
But M-SParc has already received requests for these services, ahead of its opening. So to maximise opportunities and help ensure companies want to stay in the region, M-SParc has decided to offer the ‘virtual tenancies’ to meet this demand.
A virtual tenancy is not building or location-dependent, and focuses on providing virtual tenant companies with much of the support they would receive if they were physically located at a science park.
M-SParc has also released a video, designed by Trawscoed studio, Pwllheli, showing a virtual 3D flyover of the first phase. It illustrates what the facility will look like upon completion.
Dylan J Williams, Head of Economic Development & Community Regeneration at Isle of Anglesey County Council, said: “The 3-D flyover of the M-SParc Science Park development at Gaerwen on Anglesey is inspirational, and gives a good idea of the exciting potential this park holds for business and jobs on the island.
"The virtual tenancies on offer right now offer both established and new business ventures a golden opportunity to tap into the services and business-support which will be key features of this development.
"M-SParc has created these virtual tenancies in response to high demand, and I commend M-SParc’s responsiveness and business-centred approach.”
