case for rail electrification submitted to government

North Wales rail infrastructure

A business case outlining the need for electrification of the rail network in North Wales has been submitted to the government in Westminster.

Considered key to the region’s economy, electrification is a long-stated ambition of the North Wales Economic Ambition Board (NWEAB), and has cross-party, cross-border support – including support from the private sector.

The business case for investment has been submitted by Welsh Government with support from the regional Cross Border Rail Taskforce. It’ll now be considered by the Department for Transport alongside other investment propositions for 2019-2024.

The NWEAB has been involved in developing the business case as part of its work to support economic growth in North Wales.
